Last weekend Mike and I took a quick trip up in Yorkshire. We had a dental appointment we had to go to so it was a rushed trip. We saw sights such as this;
The oh so dramatic Huddersfield CofE Cathedral
I’ve been up in Yorkshire quite a few times since two of Mike’s sisters live up there. It’s not my cup of tea considering I have only seen the sun shine there about twice so it was uber nice to see country scenes such as this outside the window.
The weather in south Yorkshire is usually like this shot and the video of yours truly that Mike took a while ago when we went up to Castle Hill near Huddersfield.
Trust me the sunshine adds so much moodboosting magic. It can get quite glum here when you realise it’s been weeks since the sun has shined.
Since Mike knows this county so well we jumped off of the motorways and took the little country lanes.
It was when we were stopped by a construction light that I had the first opportunity to get a shot of that fantastic object I’ve been looking at for the past few years. I’ve seen it loads of times and each times it makes me giggle like a four-year-old when presented with a fart joke. I just never had the camera with me….until now.
Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you the BEST VILLIAGE NAME IN ENGLAND!!!
The first time I saw it was in 2003 and I shouted as loud and as brash as my western American accent could allow. “PENIS TONE? What pervert names a village PENIS TONE?”
The car full of natives started to giggle…then they chuckled and then they laughed hysterically at my expense.
Debbie, the eldest of the bunch, tried not to be condescending but unfortunately failed when she spoke “It’s pronounced penny stun”
I furrowed my brow and then thought about it again. I suppose it could be penny stun but c’mon! What did you read when you first saw that eh?
Please tell me I’m not the only one with a dirty mind?
Oh and leave your jokes to a PG-13 level please. Some of my friends who read this are young.

The proper pronunciation is "Penniestun" the affixed "Stone" is shortened, and the other bit is not pronounced as in the biological term....
You should have turned off to go have a look, much of the old village remains unspoiled by the twentieth/twenty first centuries, and is set in some lovely countryside.
Hope you had fun!?

My sis-in-law lives in stocksbridge so next time I'm up I'll bug the hubster for a trip around.
Always have fun, especially on the 616 near The Flouch going as fast as we dare under the bridge....tell me you've never done it?
